Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 1 whole whole chicken about 4-5 pounds
Beer
  • 1 can beer lager or ale
Spices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat (about 350°F or 175°C).
  2. Rinse the chicken under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the olive oil all over the chicken, then season with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Open the can of beer and drink or pour out half of it. Place the beer can inside the chicken cavity.
Grilling
  1. Stand the chicken upright on the grill using the beer can for support.
  2. Close the grill lid and cook for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  3. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
