Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables
  • 1 lb ground beef preferably 80/20 for flavor
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 medium bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium potato peeled and diced
  • 1 medium carrot peeled and diced
  • 1 cup peas fresh or frozen
Spices and Seasoning
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 lime lime wedges for serving

Method
 

Cooking Picadillo
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  2. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, garlic, potato, and carrot to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  4. Add the tomato sauce and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the peas and cook for an additional 5 minutes until heated through.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.
